The hospitality virtual frame is inspired by the symbol of hospitality, the pineapple. In colonial times when a sea captain returned home from trading in the South Seas, a pineapple would be placed in front of the captain's home to signify his safe return. Friends were invited to stop in and share the good fortune of his voyage. The importance of the pineapple symbol is exemplified by its use as a crown above the doorway of Hunter House.
