The lily design on this letter opener is inspired by the Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass windows adorning the front entrance of the Hartford, CT home of Samuel (Mark Twain) and Olivia Clemens. The Clemens’ home was designed by Edward Tuckerman Potter and Alfred H. Thorp in 1873, and later decorated by Louis Comfort Tiffany and Associated Artists. The elegance of the lilies flowering in the landscape expresses Tiffany’s love for nature’s beauty.
