A Collection of British Museum Bookmarks
The building block of David Howell & Company has been the wide assortment of bookmarks developed over our twenty-five year history. Through the years we have tried to keep the selection lively by developing special finishes and various sizes. We have developed a wide range of bookmarks from the artworks in the collection of the British Museum.

A New World Watercolour Bookmark this bookmark features details of three watercolor images by the 16th century English artist, John White. The images are produced via an accurate six color printing technique that captures the painterly qualities of the original artwork. The full image of each watercolor is reproduced on the back of the packaging card. This bookmark, which can be slipped into the pages of a book to hold your place, measures 4 L x 1 W and is brass, plated with hematite.
Egyptian Cat a close up of the face of an Egyptian cat statue, this bookmark conveys the sacred level to which the Egyptians raised cats in their culture. This bookmark is made of brass and has a hand applied verdigre finish. It measures 3 in length and comes with a tassel.
Egyptian Queen this gold plated bookmark, measuring 3 ½ long, is a finely rendered detail from an Egyptian sarcophagus. The queen's robe, headdress and regal symbols are etched with great attention to the original artwork.
Greek Vase a miniaturized adaptation of an Attic Greek Vase, with the painted image of Nike, goddess of Victory, accurately captured. This bookmark measures 2 Ό H x 1 ½ W.
Ankh this design is based on an Egyptian faience amulet. Though simple in its silhouette representing the Egyptian hieroglyph for life, the etched details convey the complexity of the original amulet that contained the additional hieroglyphs for power, stability and longevity. Like the Cat Bookmark, this piece is made of brass and has a hand applied verdigre finish. Measuring 3 Ό in length, this bookmark comes with a tassel.
